These Dixie washout cloth markers are terrific for marking quilts or appliqué pieces and work well on both light and dark fabrics.
They are thicker than most pencils, so use a double-barreled pencil sharpener to sharpen.
I first learned about these pencils when taking Charlotte Warr Andersen's class. As she says, "I have not found a marker that I like better. They are removable, usually rubbing off by the time that you finish a project. Sometimes you may have to actually submerge the fabrics in water to remove the chalk. I have never had a fabric that they did not come out of including silk and polyester but when in doubt test before using. . . Unlike other markers they do not seem to heat set so don't be afraid of ironing your project before laundering."
