ByAnnie Top Voted
WINNER: Petra R.
ABOUT: Petra knew that the Double Zip Gear Bag 2.0 would work well for her husband and son's biking adventures.
THEIR STORY: “My husband and son are avid mountain bikers and downhillers. They have so much equipment and accessories to take with them and have a hard time keeping it all organized. I decided to sew them the three sizes of Double Zip Gear Bags.
They put their granola bars, first aid supplies and gear for the helmet camera in the little one, extra inner tubes, gloves and various tools in the medium sized and knee protectors, extra jerseys and gloves in the big one.
As they can get really dirty I lined the bags with a plastic liner so it can be wiped clean.
And sometimes, after a particularly wet and dirty tour, I have to put the gear bags through the washer. The guys even use the bags to store their stuff when they aren’t on tour, and that way they just have to grab the bags and load them in the car when it’s time. I have, however, already been warned… they are going to need a few more gear bags!"
WHAT WE LOVED: One of our ByAnnie team members said, "...How can you not like the bike in the background? They gave me some ideas for my next project to sew. That way I can be ready for my next ride!"
WHAT THEY WON: $50 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Storyteller Award
WINNER: Sandy W.
ABOUT: After a difficult year, Sandy discovered that quick sewing projects were a great way to present her Christmas gifts to her family members. Mini Note Book Covers and Petit Four Baskets were fast and easy to make and turned out beautifully.
We hope you continue to heal from your surgeries and have no future complications in your hands, Sandy!
THEIR STORY: "2021 was an interesting year for me. I developed carpal tunnel syndrome early in the year which in turn affected the arthritis in my right hand. In October, I had surgery on both hands.
While not totally incapacitated, it did affect the amount of sewing, and the type of projects I could complete.
Therefore, SCRATCH the birthday and Christmas gift lists for the second half of the year! Room With a View, The Write Stuff bags, Travel Essentials and Double Zip Gear Bags have been replaced by gift cards.
By end of November, I was anxious to get started back sewing but didn't have the time to tackle those items (we celebrate family Christmas on the 18th). But Annie to the rescue!
I watched an online ByAnnie episode about quick gifts #2. Inspiration hit me... she was showing patterns I had in stash and hadn't thought about since they were so simple.
The Mini Notebooks and Petit Four Baskets became the wrappings for my gift cards and trinkets. These were SO QUICK AND EASY!! I had all the supplies already... all scraps from other projects. And they didn’t require binding or zippers (another plus this close to gift-giving).
The Petit Four Baskets became a vessel for gift cards, but also the flower bulbs we are giving to daughters and nieces.
The bulbs are daffodils that we collected from their grandmother’s garden after she passed away (house was being sold).
Using mesh scraps in my stash, I made little bags to hold the bulbs, I topped the satchels with different daffodil quotes, and a note stating they were from their grandmother’s garden.
Nephews (and a few others) will receive their gift cards in the mini-notebooks. Again I used scraps matching their interests. I’m thrilled that I could make a few items to gift this year.
Luckily, I have understanding family members who are patiently waiting for their specially-made ByAnnie bags. Thank you for the ideas! "

Quilt Shop Highlight
WINNER: Alli's Fabbies
THEIR STORY: "After making Take A Stand, my mother-in-law asked me to make her a bag sometime, but maybe a backpack, she couldn't decide. She did want something where she could keep her hands free.
She commented one time while looking through my stash with me that she really liked this owl. Her birthday is right around the corner and I knew her favorite color is pink! All of these colors fits her personality so well, she is a very cheerful and sweet woman.
I've made many ByAnnie bags and I enjoyed the different techniques used on this project [Switchback] that were not in any other projects. I will be making this again for someone special again."

Honorable Mention
WINNER: Janice S.
ABOUT: Nesting Baskets presented a creative opportunity for Janice and we can't stop smiling. Let it snow!
THEIR STORY: "I made this project for a birthday gift for my mother in law. Wanted to give her some food and these baskets are the perfect size to fill.
Her December birthday made the snowman theme perfect.
I have made many by Annie projects so this one was pretty easy to accomplish. A little tricky calculating the location for embroidery of face and buttons but turned out great!"
WHAT WE LOVED: One of our ByAnnie team members saw Janice's photo and said, "What a fun and creative idea! I love that she saw a fun opportunity and took it, this will be such a fun themed organizer for her mother-in-law to use year after year."
WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Honorable Mention
WINNER: Leslie L.
ABOUT: We were so sad to hear about the destruction of Leslie's house in the hurricane, but glad to see her optimism shine through. We love the clean look of your counter space, too, Leslie! Your In The Mix is equally beautiful in its soft and simple grays.
THEIR STORY: "Our house was destroyed in Hurricane Laura and we lost almost everything. When we finally moved back home, I decided I really like the look of our empty house. So I made a rule that nothing could be stored on the kitchen counter.
Well, the mixer didn’t fit in a cupboard, and so I made this cover using a simple print and white toweling. I love it so much and I think it adds to the simplicity of my kitchen.
Whenever my husband sees something on the counter, he says I have to make a cover for it!"
WHAT WE LOVED: One ByAnnie team member said, "I appreciate minimalism. She says that after their home was destroyed in a hurricane she realized that she likes having her counters clean and clutter free. Plus, I like the simple pattern and clean lines of this cover."
WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Honorable Mention
WINNER: Linda A.
ABOUT: We love hearing stories about how people leverage their differences into something beautiful. Linda used something as simple as placemats [Easy Flip & Sew] to celebrate two of the holidays she and her husband observe in their relationship.
THEIR STORY: “My husband and I are an interfaith couple. We got married 36 years ago when interfaith marriages were still somewhat unusual. We enjoy celebrating both Hanukkah and Christmas but don't have many decorations for these holidays.
I was inspired to make these placemats after watching a recent installment of Live with Annie. I used fabric from my stash and some smaller pieces leftover from another project.
My husband loves his placemat and is afraid to use it (even though I've told him they are machine washable and dryable.) Thanks for your great patterns, products, and helpful videos!"
WHAT WE LOVED: A ByAnnie team member said, "I love seeing people's different takes on our placemat patterns, I think it's so cool. Especially, I love seeing how Linda and her husband can each have their own placemat related to the holidays they observe together."
WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com
