ByAnnie Top Voted

WINNER: Marianne D

PATTERN: Back At Ya

THEIR STORY: “My twin 8-year-old granddaughters LOVE going to their ballet lessons. They have done so well, and I wanted to reward them for their hard work and dedication. They were using small little bags that I had made for them several years ago, when they first started out in ballet. So I decided a backpack would be a good replacement.

Emma loves pink and Zoey loves purple, so picking out the fabric was easy! And By Annie are the only patterns I use anymore, so that was the first place I looked for a good pattern.

Back at Ya is a very good size bag for a child. Not too big and not too small. And Soft and Stable is a must! No matter how intimidating the pattern may seem, the directions (taken step by step) work you through to the end without any trouble. The girls were happy with the results, and so was Grandma!"

WHAT WE LOVED: Annie had this to say, "I loved seeing the Back At Ya 2.1 backpacks that Marianne made for her granddaughters to carry their "stuff" to ballet class. Seeing them wearing the backpacks was especially fun!"

Storyteller Award

WINNER: Colleen M

PATTERN: Double Zip Gear Bags and Totally Trendy Totes

THEIR STORY: "My eldest grandson has Cerebral Palsy with limited motor control. He loves to pick up rocks and put in a bucket. I decided to modify the Double Zip Gear bag to hopefully enable him to open/close by himself.

I first made one for my youngest grandson per the pattern (minus pockets). Then I put extra large grab tabs on the bottom, large one on top and then modified the zipper pull tab by using the top portion of In Control handles. I can’t wait to see him open it, fill it and close it again. ❤️

PS: In the background is my Totally Trendy Tote, I use for my EPP Queen of Diamonds project. Totally love it!"

Quilt Shop Highlight

WINNER: Old Town Quilt Shop

THEIR STORY: "We hosted a class for the Ultimate Travel Bag. We had 18 students, and they all had fun making their bags! They all look so different, it was great seeing the unique fabrics used, and the added embellishments (zipper pulls, etc). We also showed them how to put purse feet on the bottom instead of buttons. Not everyone finished during our 2-day class, but they all had a great time, and learned new things. They are all looking forward to our next class, in January!"

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Monica H

PATTERN: Meshing Around

THEIR STORY: "Every year my work team selects a local family in need and provides Christmas gifts based on needs and wishes. We provide them with gas and grocery gift cards, clothes, and toys.

The gifts are given to the parents 7-10 days before Christmas so they can wrap the gifts, label them, and place them under their tree. This year's family has 4 children ages 3-8 years old including one boy and three girls.

It was tremendous fun picking out fabrics and materials based on their favorite colors and interests. I made each one a small meshing around, a matching pillow case, and a fresh new bed pillow for everyone. I love making gifts for a family in need. This was my first attempt at the meshing around pattern and I was pleased by how quickly it came together."

WHAT WE LOVED: Our team member Shara had this to say, "I loved that she shared her talents with a family in need."

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Lyn W @rosepink1961

PATTERN: Catch All Caddy

THEIR STORY: "I made this Catch All Caddy especially for LeanneB. Leanne has been going through some tough times of late and I hoped this would bring her a smile and much enjoyment.

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Marianne G. L

PATTERN: Necessories and Sew Simple Wallet

THEIR STORY: “I have many of Byannie patterns now. I got addicted to them since my first bag was sewn in 2021. Since then I’ve sewn about a hundred bags of different ByAnnie patterns.

I find it easier to sew the older patterns after I have sewn some of the newer patterns first.

I have not entered any of my projects here before because I’m struggling with writing in English. I don’t have any trouble listen and reading in English. Anyhow I thought I would send in this project because here l combined 2 patterns, and I would like to share this.

I made the pocket wallet from pattern necessaries. I took away the fold in pocket in the bottom, and replaced it with a sew simple wallet pocket. The 3 pocket one without the lid.

I also made a 3 pocket sew simple wallet with 3 pockets on both sides. Start with fabric that is 34 1/4 inch long. Draw the line for 3 pockets from both ends. Plus you need a 7 inch by 5 inch fabric for the inside. I hope this is understandable. The rest is like in the pattern.

I really love ByAnnie patterns. I have learned so much from these patterns. I didn’t like to sew bags before. But now I can’t get enough of them. My local fabric shop sadly doesn’t sell these patterns anymore, so I have to buy from other stores in Norway, and pay for shipping. But they are worth it. I keep a journal of all the patterns I got and of all the different bags I made. And I use all of the bags I made on a daily basis. What I particularly love about the ByAnnie bags are that they’re very practical in use, and are technically very smartly made."

WHAT WE LOVED: "Our team member Casey had this to say, "I love this! Such a great and creative way to combine two patterns.""
