Learn all about our free PDF pattern, Face Mask, in this introductory video. This pleated face mask is easy to sew, has instructions for three sizes, and is comfortable to wear.
About the Face Mask.
This quick-to-make Face Mask has pleats on each side for expansion. Elastic (or fabric) ties on top and bottom help keep the mask snug against the face and adjust for comfortable wearing. A flexible wire inserted at the top of the mask allows the wearer to shape the mask to fit more closely around the nose.
The pattern includes instructions for masks in three sizes:
Small: 5"H x 6½"W Medium: 6"H x 8½"W Large: 6½"H x 9½"W
Get your supplies ready!
The Face Mask pattern doesn’t call for many supplies. Just fabric, a nonwoven sew-in interfacing, fold-over elastic, and a pipe cleaner (or wire).
We specifically recommend our Mask Filter Material for your nonwoven sew-in interfacing. Lightweight and breathable, this top-quality filtering material is perfect for face masks.
Non-woven spun-bond polypropylene
1.25 ounce per square yard (on par with most surgical masks)
20 inches wide
Washing: Machine Wash/Tumble Dry
We recommend using this filter material in conjunction with tightly-woven quilting cottons for a stylish design and good quality filtration.
This material has a melting point of approximately 320℉.
Do NOT use iron directly on the mask filter material. If you must iron your project, be sure to use a low heat setting and a pressing sheet or other heat barrier.
Available as a 25 pack.
Face Mask can also be purchased as a pack of 25 high-quality, color copies. 25 packs are great for:
