ByAnnie Top Voted

WINNER: Nancy H   @nhevenor

Pattern: Take a Stand, Running With Scissors

THEIR STORY:  My first ByAnnie bag was a large Take a Stand (TAS) bag which I absolutely love, I have been using it for years to carry my In Control bag full of sewing tools to retreats and sew days.

For the past few years I have been teaching classes on ByAnnie bags to my quilt guild members. I decided to teach the Take a Stand pattern this year so I could make a large and a small and follow up the class with a sew along zoom to make Running with Scissors (RSW). When I teach a class I have at least 2 versions of the bag in progress so I can demonstrate what needs to be done and what it will look like when complete. It was the perfect opportunity to make coordinating large and small bags for myself.

The running with scissors is a wonderful way to keep all my tools in one place. I love the way it sits on top of the small bag and how the small TAS and the RSW fit nicely inside for transportation.

Thank you for these wonderful patterns and your wonderful videos.

WHAT WE LOVED: Annie had this to say, "Nancy did a fabulous job embellishing her Take and Stand and Running With Scissors set. Great embroidery accents on every piece. Her students are so lucky to have someone so talented and inspiring to teach them!"

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Nicole M

PATTERN: Hot & Heavy

THEIR STORY:  I was delighted to see you had designed a bag for the mini Oliso iron. I had purchased mine in April and had taken it on retreat in May but didn't really have a suitable bag for it.

Your latest patterns took a while to make it to Australia. I started making it the day after I received the pattern.

I only had half a metre of the elephant fabric and a fat quarter of the spot I used for the lining. I fussy cut so that the elephant was centered on both the front and back just between the handles. As a consequence I decided not to cover this up with a front zippered pocked. I just added the mesh pocket to the inside.

There was just enough elephant fabric to cover the base stabilizer and make the cord wrap. I chose webbing for the handles and matched the binding to this. I covered the base stabilizer with a sleeve of quilting wadding and put that inside the fabric sleeve. My baby Oliso is now ready to travel in style to the next quilting retreat.

WHAT WE LOVED: Our team member Casey had this to say, "This hot & Heavy is perfect for her iron. I love the pairing."

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Natasha F  @always.be.crafting

PATTERN: Piecekeeper

THEIR STORY:  After watching Season 4, Episode 26, of Live with Annie, I was inspired to tackle my giant drawer full of scraps. I had no idea what I wanted to make, so I decided to just start connecting the pieces with a zig zag stitch, and see what sort of new "fabric" I could make.

Since I usually quilt all of my pieces individually (as opposed to one giant piece of two yards), my leftover scraps are usually quite small and skinny. So I just kept zigging and zagging, and fell into a zen like state. Pretty soon I had a piece that was almost 18" square, and I just didn't have the heart to cut it up again.

Since I had felt so peaceful throughout the process, it seemed only fitting, that I was destined to create a giant Piecekeeper. ByAnnie mesh and zipper in white (with a fun purple zipper pull) on the front, and ByAnnie Premium Clear Vinyl on the back, make for a perfect pouch to hold all the scraps that didn't get used, along with any notes or pattens I may want to include in future projects.

WHAT WE LOVED: Our team member Teresa had this to say, "Inspired by an episode of Live with Annie, Natasha scooped up her scraps and got to work! She managed to use up some scraps and make better storage for remainders."

WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com
