"Just My Type" Blog Hop 2020
Jacque Davis

We are so excited to participate in the ‘Just My Type’ blog hop using ‘Just My Type’ fabric by Tammy Silvers (Island Batik). The fabric itself is a variety of cool, easy-on-the-eyes greens and blues featuring typewriter-style letters and cozy mugs steaming with something delicious. Naturally, we wanted to experiment with these fun fabrics by sewing a few of our favorite patterns!

Catch All Caddy

In keeping with the ‘Just My Type’ typewriter theme, we styled our Catch All Caddy with a variety of creative materials. This caddy is great for holding stationary, writing utensils, and anything else you need to craft a unique, hand-written letter.

Catch All Caddy features a number of slip pockets (and one zip pocket) on the outside of the caddy, as well as a variety of bellowed dividers on the inside.

These bellowed dividers are open on the bottom so you can slide in a jar of pencils all the way to the bottom of the bag without the jar tipping over. They are also designed to lay flat against the inside of the caddy if you want to get them out of the way.

Transport the caddy by carrying it with its soft handles, or tug it across a table by grasping the loops on either end of the bag. If you’re using this caddy to organize sewing supplies, we like clipping our Wonder Clips and a ring of zipper pulls to those loops.

In Control

If the Catch All Caddy seems a bit large to suit your needs, check out the In Control pattern. We like to refer to In Control as Catch All Caddy’s little sister due to its smaller footprint.

Imagine a rainy day. You sit down at your table to work on that unique, hand-written letter (remember the Catch All Caddy above?) and you realize you’re missing something. A warm mug of something delicious! Good thing you have your In Control caddy filled with everything you need for a cozy cuppa joe!

In Control is similar to Catch All Caddy, sharing the variety of external slip pockets (and a zip pocket) as well as the internal bellowed dividers.

Petit Four Baskets

Maybe you don’t need an entire caddy devoted to crafting a delicious drink. But surely you could use a fat-quarter-friendly Petit Four Basket to organize your tea packets.

Petit Four Baskets is a simple project that’s easy to sew using fabrics from your stash and a 10” x 11” piece of Soft and Stable. When you’re finished, you’ll have a charming little 2½”H x 5”W x 4”D basket that you can use to organize small items or give as a gift.

We love to use Petit Four Baskets on our desks at the ByAnnie office to store paper clips, sticky note pads, and keys.

Easy Does It

If you’re looking for an easy project to practice your binding skills or to warm up before tackling a larger bag pattern, Easy Does It is for you!

This simple bag features two easy-grab handles, a zippered top, and a roomy interior. Fill it with cords for your electronics, loose scrapbooking stationery, or toiletries. It’s also a great smaller bag to further organize a craft drawer or suitcase.

Like many of our other patterns, we recommend quilting your fabric with Soft and Stable to give the project the perfect amount of support and structure, while still remaining pliable and easy to work with.

Conclusion

We hope you’re as inspired as we were by this incredible fabric line by Tammy Silvers, ‘Just My Type.’ Let us know in the comments which fabrics in this line you’re excited to work with, or which project you’re ready to begin!

And a special thanks to Tammy Silvers and Island Batik for including us in this blog hop. We had a lot of fun matching fabrics and photographing these finished projects!
