ByAnnie Top Voted
WINNER: Theresa M @tmusakhanyan
Pattern: Travel Duffle Bag
THEIR STORY: I love to travel and I loved the perfect size of this bag. I based my quilted fabric design on a kaleidoscope, because like traveling it is always changing and transports you to different locations like this travel duffel allows!
WHAT WE LOVED: Our team member Randi had this to say, " I'm impressed with the pieced block she used for her bag."
WHAT THEY WON: $50 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com
Storyteller Award
WINNER: Nancy H @nancy_hbbrd
Pattern: Travel Duffle Bag
THEIR STORY: Chickens, chickens, chickens. A long time friend has been raising chickens the last few years and I never knew until...but that's another story.
A mother-in-law holds a special place in the heart of my friend and had been an avid quilter the majority of her latter years. And having lived with her son and his wife (my friend) there was fabric that did not get made into a quilt, since her mother-in-law passed away a couple of years ago.
One day I had stopped by to show her the Get Out of Town I had made for a daughter whose mother had passed just this last March. She then inquired about what other sizes of bags were available and that opened a whole other story resulting in her choosing Travel Duffle Bag 2.1; she handed me three folded pieces of fabric that had been in her MIL's stash. There was quite a bit of yardage for each of the three and it was a good thing as all 3 of them were very directional, and so is the pattern.
I had seen the 'egg' fabric on the Rebsfabstash site in Moscow, ID earlier this summer and was hoping there might still be some available. I enjoy ordering from that site as I typically receive my order the very next day. Received it I did and was well on the way to coordinating this surprise of added fabric.
On@ Sept 18, 2024 she received her Travel Duffle with the most sincere hug I think I've ever had -- with tears of thankfulness for her new travel bag she thanked me for making it; she thanked me for making it with the fabrics that bring her much comfort of her dearly missed MIL; and she thanked me for adding the 'eggs' to the recipe of her new travel companion. Her and her husband do travel quite a bit with their new truck and trailer.
She and I have been Ya-Ya Sisterhood sisters since my mother passed in 2002. It was an honor to make this for her; it was a challenge for the size of this beast; it was a blessing to share yet another memory of our many memories together. (And occasionally, she gifts us with fresh "cage-free" butt nuggets from her girls.)

SewPINK
WINNER: Marlene O @marlene.kissedquilts
PATTERN: Bosom Buddy
THEIR STORY: A friend recently had an explant and it occurred to me that the Bosom Buddy was a perfect item to give her as a gift for her recovery. She loves hearts and her favorite color is blue. The #SewPink awareness campaign came at a perfect time.
WHAT WE LOVED: Our team member Jacque had this to say, " This is a very pretty Bosom Buddy. It sounds like it will be very helpful for her friend."
WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com
Honorable Mention
WINNER: Kimberly B @nwpepper
PATTERN: Room With a View
THEIR STORY: The growing grandkid toy collection needed to be wrangled into better order. I love superhero fabric and couldn't wait to try this cool pattern, so I made 3 at the same time. Love them and how much more organized the toys are (at least when they are not visiting)!
WHAT WE LOVED: Our team member Casey had this to say, " These are so much fun. What a great way to store the grandkids toys. Love these!!
WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com
Honorable Mention
WINNER: Kaat V @Orshoka
PATTERN: Every Day Every Way
THEIR STORY: Last year I had to make a diaper bag for a colleague. I bought this pattern but was "scared to death" to start it: I did not understand the ByAnnie "language"! I was "only" a regular sewer. However first I managed to amend an EDI for the purpose.
Now 1 year later, 3 out to lunch, 10 Clam Ups and Easy wallets further I dared to pick this pattern up. When I heard my niece was going to have her 3rd baby I was determined to make her this bag! Not a babylook but going beyond toddler age! I made a slightly "simplified" EDEW: no magnets, no backpack handles nor stroller straps.
I used ready made coloured webbing, and added on each inside side strip an elastic for additional storage. I put no buttons but used feet with prongs through its bottom (and covered the prongs with pieces of tape for protection). I made a stabilizer sleeve as in the Out to Lunch (as this is easier for washing when its very dirty).
It was a lot of work but still easier than I thought. And thanks to misinterpretation of the pattern it's nice to add some personal twists to it. But I may certainly not forget to mention the kind ladies Kelly and Elly, whose Precious advice is always highly appreciated.
WHAT WE LOVED: Our team member David had this to say, " Kaat V had some of the best photos this month. They looked so professional! The bag stood out with the black background."
WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com
Honorable Mention
WINNER: Abby H
PATTERN: Other
THEIR STORY: I need a camera bag. It must cradle and protect the camera, allow full access, open quickly but close securely, support the lens, and be pretty!
I doubled the Soft and Stable using the Nesting Basket lid and base method; connecting the main and interior fabrics each to a piece of Soft and Stable, then sewing them together.
Above the base stabilizer pocket, I sewed a Soft and Stable lens stabilizer pocket for three layers of Soft and Stable. (I was able to use a cutoff of Soft and Stable with attached main fabric for a prettier end presentation.) I also sewed the strap stabilizer across the entire bottom of the bag for additional support. (I ran out of the mystic colored Tula webbing, so used ByAnnie webbing covered in fabric.)
I modified an Easy Does It, replacing the zipper strip with a flap. There are mesh pockets on the interior of the flap, and a zipper exterior pocket on the back of the bag. At the last moment, I attached fabric-encased Soft and Stable flaps with hook and loop tape which can lay against the sides of the bag while in use.
WHAT WE LOVED: Our team member Bunker had this to say, "This is a great bag! I love the creativity behind it."
WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com
