This classy shoulder bag features a stylish asymmetrical front flap closure, perfect for showcasing a unique fabric.
Add interest by using fabric texturized with Bosal Stitch & Steam®.
A layer of wool batting placed between the fabric and Bosal Stitch & Steam® before stitching adds even more dimension to the texturized flap. See the video below for more information.
One half-yard package of Bosal Stitch & Steam® will texturize enough fabric for three Serenity Shoulder Bags.
If desired, you may skip the texturizing step and make the shoulder bag with plain or quilted fabrics.
Wooden or metal rings accent the comfortable padded strap.
Serenity has large inside and outside slip pockets and a roomy interior. The bag finishes at about 12"W x 10½"H x 4"D.
ByAnnie's Soft and Stable® foam stabilizer works great inside the bag as it provides great stability with little extra weight. It also eliminates the need to quilt the fabric to the "batting", resulting in a very smooth finish to the bag.
This focuses even more attention on the texturized fabric on the flap. You'll need 18" x 54" of Soft & Stable® for this project, so order ½ yard package.
This pattern is specifically written for using E. E. Schenck's gradations fabric (which changes in color from light to dark) for the body of the purse and their beautiful leaf fabric for the texturized flap.
The shoulder bag is designed to use the darker parts of the fabric for the outside of the bag and the lighter parts for the lining. Complete layout instructions are included to help you take full advantage of the gradated fabric.
